ONE YEAR

I loved the long-ago pictures of your folks. Hard to imagine we were ALL young once, not to mention thin. And in the first photo, there is Jonah, there is Ewan. And in the second, make the hair darker and there is the spitting image (how vivid) of Caroline. I always knew your kids looked like you, but comparing old photos I see just how much.

I'm SO happy you are blogging again.

Woops. I posted about my secondary thoughts, not my primary ones. This is, of course, all about your dad. Wasn't he simply dashing as a young man? I can see how and why your mom fell in love with him. And as we see him grow older with time, isn't the love he had for his family so often in his face? You were all so blessed by his larger-than-life personality and gifts. As always, I grieve for your mom's and your family's loss. Do you remember what C. S. Lewis said -- "The pain now is part of the happiness then." And we wouldn't have it any other way. But, oh, the pain now. Blessings on all of your heads.

Time marches on but thank goodness our hearts hold the love and memories of the best of times. Thinking of my Leavitt girls today and always.

I was with your mom last night and we had so much fun! Chani, Jack and I sang Harvest Moon just for her.

Love, hugs, kisses and more love.

Susie, it's true, he was a dashing young man. And C.S. Lewis is right. There is so much pain now only because he gave us so much goodness and joy in life - not exclusively, but a lot.
Thank you for your blessings.

Denise, how much I wish I could have been with you all last night. However, I am so happy my Mom was there. I'm sure that is just what her soul needed right now. A dash of Neil with a teaspoon of Denise.
